We had a guy come into the shop a few days ago who wanted a band of barbed wire around his arm (yeah real original) and wanted the barbs to be piercing his flesh with blood dripping down to form letters, spelling the names of his kids.
Nobody wanted to do it, so we told him to go somewhere else.
He couldn't believe we wanted nothing to do with it.

Old English set in all caps seems to be the stylistic norm for tattoos which evoke a biker or gangsta appeal. Still, I dislike the habit of setting the type in all caps. Blackletter fonts, Germanic Frakturs and Celtic Unicals are all close cousins to traditional calligraphic scripts. Any typophile knows one should never set a script in all caps. Or for a more modern example to follow, Motorhead's logo isn't set in all caps.

There's lots of great blackletter fonts to use. Old English is the most known. Other types like American Text, Linotext, San Marco or Wilhelm Klingspor Gotisch may lend a bit more variety to blackletter inspired tattoo lettering.

I saw the picture of the blackletter tattoo in the album and was wondering if anyone had any examples of especially good lettering tatoos.
